The Colgate Men’s Hockey Team is ranked # 9/10 in the national polls this season. Centericeman Senior Austin Smith is leading the country in points and goals. Goalies Alex Evin, a senior, and Eric Mihalik, a sophomore, have been out dueling each other between the pipes with both putting up great numbers. Mihalik has been selected as ECAC goalie of the week twice already this season. Freshmen have played starring roles, taking regular shifts and making important contributions on offense and defense.

For the past 14 years the Colgate Men’s Hockey team has made it a habit to practice at WSC whenever they play Princeton on a Friday. The practices are a great venue for all WSCERs to watch an up tempo Division-I practice and come away with the concept of the very high level of play at the D-I college level and how hard you must work on the ice and in the classroom to get into elite colleges like Colgate. Be sure to bring cameras so you can watch the WSC Mites scrimmage the Colgate team. Rumor has it that Colgate has yet to win one of these scrimmages in 14 years. The Colgate team will be available for pictures and autographs after the practice. To read about the team, go to:

Watching the Colgate Coaches at work, Head Coach, Don Vaughan (307 Division wins, the most in Colgate Hockey history), and his assistants, Brad Dexter, Class of ’96 (All-American Defenseman) and Jason Lefevre ‘02 (one of Colgate’s great goalies) should get you in the mood to sign up for the Colgate/WSC Hockey Clinic this summer at the WSC rink; something that Don Vaughan and his staff have been doing for 19 straight years.
